Esse Baharmast

Information

Esse has 45 years of experience with U.S. Soccer across its refereeing and coaching programs. He currently serves as a FIFA Instructor and a member of the CONCACAF Referee Committee. He was a FIFA Referee from 1993-1998 and officiated over a dozen World Cups and Olympic Games. He’s received several accolades for his dedication to this sport, including the 2020 Werner Fricker Award, the 1997 MLS Referee of the Year Award, and an induction to the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Along with his commitment to serving the game, Esse is dedicated to helping referees reach their highest potential through his work as a National Referee Coach of 26 years and his contributions to the Colorado Soccer Association and State Referee Committee.

This course consists of Online Content, an In-Person Classroom Session AND In-Person Field Session (Session Listed Below) at the same location.

CLASSROOM AND FIELD SESSION:

Portsmouth High School – Portsmouth, NH

Saturday, April 18, 2026

8:15 AM – 12:30 PM

• You must complete all online content at least 24 hours prior to the start of the classroom session of the course (note: online content can take between 4-6 hours to complete). This includes a cleared Background Check (this can take 2-3 weeks to complete, so plan ahead) and Safe Sport modules for those who are 18 or older.
• Registration for the course closes 1 week prior to the classroom session meeting date. If a minimum number of attendees have not signed up, the course may be canceled. In this case, registrants will be given the option to transfer to another course or receive a refund.
